📖 Detailed Updates in This Release…
🔒 Your Store Has a Security Code
A number only you and TORO can see — so you always know who’s really on the phone.Phone scams aimed at shop owners are getting good. Someone calls, says they’re from your point of sale company, and asks you to let them onto your computer. Now you can settle it in five seconds.
Your store has a five-digit security code that only you and TORO can see. When someone calls saying they’re TORO Support, they tell you the code and you check it against your screen. If it doesn’t match, it isn’t us — hang up. You never read it out to anyone, ever; a real TORO tech will always be the one saying the number.
The code has its own screen, with the number big enough to read from across the counter and the one rule that matters printed in red right under it. The code changes itself on a timer, and the screen counts down to the next change. When a code expires it comes off the screen right away and the new one takes its place, so any code you can see is a live one — you can never check a caller against a dead number by mistake.
If somebody happened to see your screen, Generate New Code changes it on the spot. TORO then reminds you to tell Support to refresh, because until they do, the tech on the line is still reading your old code.
Setting up your free TORO Portal login is where you’ll see your code from anywhere. The new TORO Portal Setup tool on the Dashboard does it in one place, and on each employee’s profile the button now reads SETUP SECURITY CODE ACCESS. (More on who gets what in the TORO Insight section below.)
How to activate: automatic. Help → View Security Code, or the Store tab of the Dashboard. For the portal login: Dashboard → New in TORO → TORO Portal Setup.

🎁 Order Your Own Custom Gift Cards, Right From TORO
Your logo, your colors, your store — designed and ordered in one window.Branded gift cards used to mean a phone call, an emailed logo and a proof going back and forth. Now it’s a Marketplace tile. Open Order Gift Cards, upload your logo, pick the card color, and check your store name, address and phone — the front and back of the card update in front of you as you go, so what you see is what gets printed.
Put the logo exactly where you want it. Drag it around on the card, or use the arrow and zoom buttons beside the preview to nudge and size it. No mouse wheel needed.
Then choose 100, 250, 500 or 1,000 cards, tick rush if you need them fast, and confirm where they ship — your store’s address is already filled in. The total, with shipping, is right there before you place the order. And reordering starts from your last card: your logo, color and wording come back ready to go next time.

🏷️ The Deal Chip Is Now a Control, Not Just a Sign
Pause a deal for one sale, or for the whole store, right from the register. The deal chip at the top of the sale screen used to just announce your TORO Promotions deals. Now it’s a switch. Green means a deal is applying to this sale. Red with a caption means deals exist but aren’t applying — paused, turned off for this sale, or held back by a coupon — and the caption tells you which.
Tap the chip during a sale with one deal running and that deal turns off for this sale only — it comes back by itself on the next sale. With more than one deal running, the tap opens a small window where you can flip each deal on or off individually, or turn them all off (and back on) for that sale.
Tap the chip with no sale on screen and you can pause deals store-wide, on every register at once. TORO asks you to confirm, and the pause sticks until you come back and turn deals on again — even through a restart. Perfect for the day a deal needs to come down right now and you don’t want to open the deal editor to do it.
There’s also a new per-deal setting: “Turn this deal off when a coupon is used.” It’s off by default — deals still stack with coupons the way they always have. Tick it and that deal quietly steps aside the moment a coupon is added to a sale; remove the coupon on that same sale and the deal comes right back. The next sale starts fresh.
How to activate: automatic for every store with TORO Promotions. The coupon setting lives in the deal editor.

🎟️ Coupons Finally Respect Your Item Max Discounts
The ceiling you set on an item now means what it says — for every kind of discount. The max discount you set on an item (or as a product-type default) has always limited manual discounts — now it limits coupons and the Customer Discount button the same way. A dollar coupon moves whatever a capped item can’t take onto the other eligible items on the sale, so your customer still gets full value whenever the cart allows it. A percentage coupon simply stops at each item’s ceiling. And whenever a ceiling changes what a coupon did, the register says so on screen — no more silent surprises for the cashier to explain.
Items with a max discount of zero can’t be couponed at all — which is exactly what that setting promises. Accounts you’ve flagged to ignore max item discounts stay exempt, just like before.
A percentage coupon’s “max value” now actually works. You could always type a dollar ceiling into the coupon editor — “10% off, up to $15” — and the register now enforces it, telling the cashier when it kicks in. Blank or zero still means no ceiling. Box auto-discounts respect the item’s max discount too, matching what the shelf-label math already did.
How to activate: automatic — the ceilings come from the max discounts you’ve already set on items and product types.

💵 The Tip Window Waits for the Receipt
Ask for the tip while the pen is still in their hand. When TORO asks for the tip after a card sale, it now asks after the receipt has printed — so your customer can write their tip on the receipt and you can key it in on the spot, while they’re still standing at the register. No more juggling: print, sign, enter, done.
The Skip button is now called Input Tip Later, so it’s clear that choice doesn’t lose the tip — it keeps the sale on the Tips for Day work list to be entered later.
How to activate: automatic for stores using the ask-at-the-register tip prompt.

🎁 Choose Whether Reward Coupons Print
Your rewards, your receipt printer, your call.A new Print Reward Coupons at the Register setting in the Rewards Program setup lets you decide whether reward coupons print on the receipt printer. Stores without text messaging keep printing coupons just like before; stores with text messaging can let the text do the work, or turn printing on to hand customers a paper copy too.
Either way, every coupon a customer earns stays on their account and can be applied at checkout — printed or not, nothing is ever lost.

💼 Wholesale: The New Payments Report
Every payment, every account, one screen. The Wholesale module’s reporting screen has a new Payments Report. It lists every wholesale payment across all of your accounts for a date range — starting from the first of the current month with an open end date, so today’s payments are always included the moment you open it.
Filter by wholesale account, filter by payment method, and watch the running count and total follow whatever is on screen. Trades are included alongside cash, check and card, so the total here matches what you see on an individual account’s payments screen — no more adding two screens together in your head.

📅 The Daily Report Speaks in Whole Weeks, Months, Quarters and Years
This week, lined up against the same week of every year you’ve been open. The Week / Month / Quarter / Year views introduced last release now speak in whole periods. The teal row is that week’s (or month’s, quarter’s, year’s) own total, and the history rows below show what an average week (month, quarter, year) brought in over the last 30 days, the last 6 months, each of the last 5 years, and all time. The by-year table shows the same slice of the calendar as its full total each year — so this week lines up directly against the same week in 2025, 2024, and so on.
View Graphs follows along — charts, counts and tooltips are all in weeks, months, quarters or years to match the tables.
And loading the sales history now shows a progress window with step-by-step status and a Cancel button, so you can always see it working instead of wondering.

🕒 Tips & Commissions, Rebuilt — Now You Can See the Trend
Pick your people, pick your months, and watch the line move.Last release’s Tips & Commissions report gave you one table of per-hour averages for everybody. It’s now a proper trend report. A setup screen opens first: choose a period — Last 3 Months, Last 6 Months, Last 12 Months, Year to Date, All Time, or a custom range — then tick the employees you want on it. The list only offers people who actually worked in that period, and each name carries their shifts, hours, earnings and last day worked, so you can see who’s worth graphing before you pick.
The report opens with two graphs — Tips Over Time and Commission Over Time — one line per employee, plotted by day, week or month depending on how long a stretch you asked for. Underneath, the old table is still there and better: days, hours, card tips and cash tips side by side, tips per hour, commission, commission per hour, and a combined total per hour. Below that, a day-by-day (or week-by-week, or month-by-month) detail table you can sort any way you like.
Everything the old version showed is still here — it’s the Totals By Employee table — and staff who have since left still count for the dates they worked, so last year’s range adds up the way it did last year.
How to activate: Advanced Reporting Module → Operations → Tips & Commissions. Scheduled and emailed copies cover every employee automatically, no picking required.

📦 SKU Transfers: Scan It, Search It, Label It
Building a grab bag just got quicker at both ends. The transfer tool — the one that rolls cigars out of one or more products and into another for grab bags, samplers and re-packing — now picks products through a simple search window instead of the full item catalog. Type a few letters of the brand or the name, or just scan the barcode. A scan lands straight on the exact packaging, so it skips the “which size?” question altogether.
Retired products are hidden by default, with an Include inactive items tick box — so an old line that still has stock to move out is never out of reach.
And when the transfer completes, TORO now offers to create a barcode for what you just built and print labels for it — one label per package made. A freshly assembled grab bag used to have nothing to scan at the register; now it goes straight from the bench to the shelf.

👋 The Customer Kiosk Gets Personal
Their taste, their unexplored humidor, and live stock — right on the kiosk. The customer account screen now has a My Cigar Finder button — it opens the Cigar Finder with that customer’s personal taste profile (sizes, strengths, price range, countries) already applied, ready to fine-tune. And next to the gold “N cigars waiting for you!” stat there’s now a See Them button — one tap opens the Cigar Finder showing only the cigars that customer hasn’t tried yet, with all the filters available to narrow the list.
Stock badges: the Cigar Finder and all three recommendation lists now show a colored stock dot for every cigar — green (5 or more), yellow (3–4), red (only 1–2 left) — under a “STOCK” header so customers know what the colors mean. Nothing sells a cigar like knowing there are only two left.
For your staff: on the Build Order screen, the shelf-code box now keeps focus after every action — scan barcodes or type shelf codes back-to-back without tapping the screen between items.
And for the day you’re on the phone with us, there’s a small IP button in the top-right corner of the kiosk’s welcome screen. One tap shows this computer’s address and your database’s address, so you can read them straight off the screen instead of digging through Windows.

🔄 TORO SYNC Tells You When Something Breaks It
An online store problem should announce itself — not look normal. If order downloading or item syncing hits a problem it can’t recover from — like your store’s website going down or its setup breaking — that section of the TORO SYNC window now turns gray with a red border and shows exactly what went wrong and what to do about it, instead of quietly looking normal while orders pile up unseen.
The other section keeps working: a website problem that stops item syncing won’t stop your online orders from coming in, and vice versa. The message names the problem site, so stores with more than one website can see exactly which one needs attention.

📷 Your Product Photos Actually Reach Your Website
Cut the background out, use the picture you have, and it arrives looking right.Sending a product photo to your online store had three ways to go wrong, and this release closes all of them.
See-through backgrounds stay see-through. Cutting the background out of a cigar photo only survived the trip if the picture was small — anything bigger came back on your website with a white box behind the cigar. Now the transparency holds whatever size you started from.
Big photos no longer get turned away. Most websites quietly refuse a picture over a couple of megabytes, which is easy to hit with anything off a phone or a camera. TORO now shrinks a photo down to a size your site will accept before it sends it, instead of trying and failing. Your photos also go out correctly labelled, so a site that was fussy about the file type accepts them now too.
A tidied-up website address no longer half-breaks your store. If your saved website address had a stray slash or an https:// in front of it, photos would still upload but your products would fail to sync with a confusing error. TORO now cleans the address up before it uses it — and if the address has no real domain in it at all, it says so plainly instead of showing you a riddle.

📞 TORO Telephone: Alerts Are Back, Anyone Can Take the Callback — and You Can Dial Out
Nothing was lost, it fills itself back in, the right person gets the call — and now you can start one.A bug froze the call history the day it first loaded — so the home-screen chip stayed quiet and the callback list said “all caught up” even when calls were being missed. Nothing was lost: the moment this update lands, every call since the freeze fills back in automatically, and the missed-call chip and callback list pick up right where they should be.
And the callback screen now tells you when it can’t know. If the call history ever stops updating again, “Customers Needing a Callback” and Call Logs show an orange warning with the date it stopped and ask you to call TORO Support — instead of telling you you’re caught up when the data behind that answer has gone stale.
Call Back now asks who should take it. Pressing Call Back used to quietly ring whoever pressed it — so an owner working through the list from the office got their own cell phone every single time. Now TORO asks: you first, then anyone currently set to receive the store’s calls, then whoever is clocked in, plus Someone Else… for the full staff list. Pick the person, TORO rings them, then dials the customer with your store’s number on the caller ID — and credits the callback to whoever actually took it.
The callback window also has a new View Logs button: a plain list of calls to the store for a date range (the last three days to start), showing who called, whether it was answered, who answered it, how long it lasted, and whether they’ve been called back. Every row has its own Call Back button, so the whole list is workable from one screen.
And you can now dial any number at all. A new Dial a Number screen gives you a keypad you can tap and a box you can type into — whichever suits the register you’re standing at. It places the call exactly the way Call Back does: TORO asks which store phone should take it, rings that phone, and then dials out — so your shop’s number is what shows on the other end and nobody’s personal cell gets exposed. It’s on the TORO Telephone window and on the home-screen Telephone alert.

🔌 Your Registers Wait for the Main Computer Instead of Going Looking
A register that boots first should be patient, not creative. When a register starts up before the main computer’s database is ready — exactly what happens when the whole store gets switched on at once in the morning — it used to treat that single refusal as proof the main computer had moved, and immediately go hunting the network for some other database to use. On a network that has more than one TORO database on it, that hunt could land a register somewhere nobody was looking.
Now a register that can’t reach the address it was given waits up to 90 seconds for it, trying again every few seconds, with a window on screen naming the computer it’s waiting for and counting down — so a slow morning start looks like a slow morning start instead of a frozen register. Only if that whole minute and a half goes by does it start looking elsewhere.
Two more guards came along with it. A store register now refuses a database running on a TORO development machine, no matter how convincing it looks. And our support team has a new tool that lists every database on your network, which computer each one lives on, and when each last rang up a sale — so “which one is this register actually on?” is finally a question with a printed answer.

📡 You’ll Know When Your Main Register Changes
The computer that runs your store shouldn’t move without telling you.One computer in your shop is the main register — it holds your store’s database, and your backups and updates follow it. Until now, if that job ever moved to a different machine, nothing told you. It just quietly moved.
Now it announces itself. Whenever the main register changes hands — during a swap, a new install, or when an existing register takes over because the old main was retired — TORO sends a WhatsApp message to your store group naming the machine that took over. If you were expecting it, it’s a receipt. If you weren’t, it’s the first thing you’d want to know.
Every path that can move the main register reports it, including the quiet one where a register promotes itself because the previous main is gone.

🌿 Set Up My Humidor Picks Up Where It Left Off
Close TORO in the middle of loading your brands and nothing is lost. When you pick brands in Set Up My Humidor, TORO loads every cigar in those brands from our master catalog. That can take a while on a big pick — and if the register was closed or restarted partway through, those brands used to be stranded half-loaded with no obvious way back in.
Now every brand you tap is remembered, and TORO picks the unfinished ones back up on its own the next time it starts. The brand wall tells you exactly where each one stands: brands still coming in read “1,240 of 3,100 — still loading”, ones that haven’t started say “not loaded yet — tap to load”, and finished brands simply look finished. A Check Download Progress button on the welcome screen gives you the whole picture in one line, and tells you plainly when everything you picked has landed.
The loading itself also now knows when to stop. Before, a brand our catalog can’t finish could leave the loader running indefinitely; now it gives up honestly instead of saying “still working” forever.
How to activate: Register → Set Up My Humidor. Resuming happens by itself on the main register.

🖨️ Your Invoices and Orders Print Properly Now
Handsome on the screen, readable on paper — and easy on your ink.Your wholesale invoices and purchase orders are styled in TORO’s teal, which looks sharp on a screen. Printed, that same styling came out washed-out and heavy on colored ink — not what you want to hand a wholesale customer or staple to a delivery.
Those documents now carry a separate look for paper. On screen and in email, nothing changes. When one goes to a printer, the color drops back to near-black with clean rules and headings, so it prints crisp on any printer and doesn’t burn a color cartridge to do it.
How to activate: automatic — just print or save an invoice or order as you normally would.

💳 Purchasing Got the Modern Look — and a Company Box You Can Type Into
Every screen you use to order product, rebuilt to match the rest of TORO.Type a company name instead of scrolling for it. The company box at the top of a Purchase Order — and on Automatic Analytic Orders — now works the way the brand box on the item catalog does. Start typing and it jumps straight to the company. With four dozen vendors in the list, that beats scrolling to the P’s every time. And a company you typed is now the one that gets saved: moving off the box settles your choice before you press Save, so an order can no longer be filed under whichever vendor happened to be selected before you started typing.
The whole purchasing family carries the modern look now — the Purchase Order window, View All Purchase Orders, Create Analytic Purchase Order, Vendor Companies, Representatives, the vendor and rep editors, and Back Orders. Same teal header, same buttons, same tables as everywhere else, and the Purchase Order window now shows the PO number and whether it still needs saving right up in that header. The cryptic +, * and - buttons are gone — they read Add a Vendor, Edit Vendor, Remove Vendor and so on, and the ones that act on a row now tell you to pick one instead of sitting there greyed out.
The Analytic Purchase Order grid is readable again. Item Ranking and Order Group have their red-to-green shading back, and the four order columns turn green for a number going onto the order and red for one coming off it. Column names are turned on their side so names like On Backorder Wholesale show in full instead of being clipped to a few letters, the text is bigger, and the Group 1/2/3 explanation under the company box is now three coloured bars — the Group 3 line used to be dark red on a dark panel, which was effectively invisible.
And the box you type into acts like a box you type into. Manually Added Order has its outline back, opens on a single click rather than a double click, and selects what’s already there so typing replaces the number instead of adding digits to it. As you type, the row turns green when you’re adding boxes and red when you’re taking them off, so you can see at a glance which items you touched.

🛍️ The TORO Marketplace, Rebuilt
Everything you buy from us, on screens that look like the rest of TORO.The Marketplace and every window behind it — Receipt Paper Ordering, Label Ordering, View Purchase Orders, TORO Balance, Invoices & Payments, the invoice viewer and TORO Auto Pay — now carry the teal header, the modern buttons and the same tables as everywhere else in TORO.
The tiles are grouped under Billing, Supplies and Modules instead of sitting in three unlabelled columns, so it’s obvious where to look for a payment versus where to look for paper.
Receipt paper is now one size — the 33-roll case. The ordering window used to offer 8, 21 and 33 rolls. The big case works out cheapest per roll and the small ones cost nearly as much to ship, so there’s one thing to choose now: how many cases.
Two safety fixes came with it. Removing a stored Auto Pay payment method no longer opens with Yes under your finger — that confirmation now starts on No, so pressing Enter to clear the box off your screen can’t delete a card. And a refund request that doesn’t reach us now says so: Request Refund used to tell you it was sent the moment it was queued, so a request that never arrived left you waiting on a refund nobody had. It now comes back and tells you, with the reason, so you can call instead.

👥 Find an Employee by Typing Their Name
Stop scrolling a staff list to find one person. The employee picker behind FIND EMPLOYEE on Hours & Payroll used to be a list you scrolled. Now you type and it narrows as you go — first name, last name, employee ID, the last four of a phone number, or the whole number. Partial matches are fine, and when your search leaves only one person, Enter picks them. The cursor is already sitting in the box when the window opens.
The same search turns up everywhere else TORO asks you to pick an employee: salary hours, message setup, moving a tip to another employee.

🔍 Look Up a Sale’s History by Its Number
Punch in the number, get the sale — no more squeezing date ranges until it turns up.The trace log — now called View Transaction Trace Logs on the Dashboard — records everything that happened during a sale. Finding one particular sale used to mean knowing roughly when it happened and narrowing the date range until it appeared.
There’s a Search by Id button now. It asks whether you have a Trace Id, a Transaction Id or a Tab Id, you punch the number in, and it opens that sale’s log straight away.
Both trace screens also got the modern look. The detail window shows the sale at a glance across the top — when it happened, who started it, the tab, the transaction, the total, whether it closed properly, whether it’s flagged — and the first column of the list reads Trace Id instead of just “ID”. If a search or filter finds nothing, the screen says so instead of showing you an empty grid.

🌍 Country of Origin Finally Offers Countries
Where a cigar was made shouldn’t mean hunting through hundreds of wrapper varietals.Setting a cigar’s Country of Origin used to show you every entry in your tobacco list — mostly leaf names like “Corojo” and “Ecuadorian Habano Rosado Claro”. Picking where a cigar was actually made meant scrolling past hundreds of them. It now offers the countries cigars are made in. Wrapper, Binder and Filler are unchanged and still show everything, because a leaf is named either for where it grew or for its varietal.
The picker also says what you’re picking — opening it from Add Wrapper used to be titled “Country Management”, and now reads Select Wrapper, Select Binder, Select Filler or Select Country of Origin. And the list is alphabetical, with unnamed entries at the bottom, instead of four countries pinned to the top and everything else after them.

📊 TORO Insight Is Free at Every Store — and You Decide Who Sees What
No sign-up wall, and a simple three-way choice for each person.TORO Insight is open at every store now. Free is the starting point for every shop, so the TORO Insight button always opens instead of asking you to sign up first.
Choose how much each person gets. In TORO User Access, every login has three options: None, Security code only (free), or Full dashboard. Staff can set up their own security code access from their employee profile; admins get the full TORO Insight dashboard and the TORO Portal. Lowering someone’s access signs them out right away — TORO asks you first, so it’s never an accident.
Clearer rules about who manages whom:
- Only admins manage other people’s logins. TORO User Access, Add User and pairing codes are admin-only; anyone can still set up their own.
- “Store administrator” simply follows the employee’s TORO access level, so there’s one place to decide who’s an admin.
- Only the store owner can lower another admin’s access. An admin can raise anyone and change their own access, but taking access away from another admin is up to the owner — in TORO and in the TORO Portal alike.
How to activate: automatic. Manage people from TORO User Access; set up your own from SETUP SECURITY CODE ACCESS on your employee profile.

💳 A Card Screen That Can’t Lose a Charge
A cleaner look, and no way to close it by accident while a card is running. The card payment screen has a fresh look — the amount is front and center, and it follows TORO’s light or dark theme like everything else.
It can’t be closed by accident mid-charge. Esc and Alt+F4 no longer close the card screen while a card is running. That used to be one way a charge could go through with no sale to show for it. To cancel, press the red X on the card terminal — the note on screen now says so.
And it won’t leave you stuck. If the card machine sends back an answer TORO doesn’t recognize, TORO first checks whether the card was actually charged, then gives you a Close button and tells you what to check.
How to activate: automatic.

🔧 Under the Hood
- The discount limit message finally says whose limit it is. A cashier with no discount rights used to get “must be a valid number less than or equal to 0.0”. Now it names the employee, gives their maximum discount, and tells you exactly where to change it.
- Your daily report email now always covers the right day. On some stores the daily report could be built for the day before the one it said it was for — which also meant a day could get sent twice or skipped entirely. It now locks onto the correct business day every time.
- TORO Insight no longer blanks out a finished day. After closing, the numbers for the day you just finished could reset to zeros once the clock passed midnight, leaving only the 7-day sales trend intact. Your completed day now stays exactly as you closed it, and while the store is closed the figures hold steady instead of drifting toward zero.
- TORO now rides out cloud-service outages gracefully. If TORO’s servers are ever unreachable, the register notices within seconds and carries on at full speed instead of pausing on affected actions — and it reconnects on its own within half a minute of the service returning.
- Scanning an item at the register is faster. The same item’s settings used to be looked up several separate times per scan — those lookups are now combined and remembered for the length of the sale, so busy-night scanning has less waiting in it.
- Daily Report history loads dramatically faster at stores with commission history — this speedup is already in place for every store.
- A tax edit made on one station now reaches every other register within 15 minutes — screens like receipts and customer-facing pricing previously didn’t see tax changes at all until the program was restarted. (The register you made the change on still sees it right away.)
- Taxes with a start or end date now switch over at midnight on their own. A register that stayed on for weeks kept using the tax table from whenever it was started, so a scheduled tax change quietly didn’t take effect until a restart. Now every register rolls to the new day’s taxes automatically.
- Receipt printing no longer fails when a tax was turned off earlier that day — the receipt prints the old row as “Tax #” plus its number instead of erroring out mid-print.
- “Must remove coupon” no longer pops up out of nowhere. When a coupon that doesn’t allow other discounts was on the sale, hitting Add Payment could pop that message two or three times unprovoked. It now only shows if you actively try to add a discount — which is what it was always supposed to mean.
- A refused coupon no longer takes your member discounts with it. When a coupon that doesn’t allow other discounts couldn’t be applied, the customer’s member discount could silently vanish from the sale. It now comes right back.
- The Select Employees window is easier on the eyes — employee names show at the standard size instead of tiny text, the “Hold CTRL to select multiples” hint is readable, and the button for moving people back to the Available list shows its “<” arrow again.
- The New Label / Edit Label window in Messages no longer cuts off its Icon section — the Choose / Draw Icon button is fully visible.
- A missing label printer now says so once, not once per box. Printing backstock labels for a fifteen-box order on a station with no label printer set up used to throw fifteen error messages and open fifteen Notepad windows. TORO now checks for the printer before it starts, reports the problem a single time, and offers to open your printer settings.
- Label printing no longer errors out on a station that never had a small label printer configured — box and item label printing both handle that cleanly now.
- Re-running an old Store Report shows that day’s birthdays again. Pulling a Store Report for a past date used to list whoever had a birthday around the day you ran it, labelled “TODAY!”. It now shows the birthdays and anniversaries for the date the report actually covers.
- The “Send As Attachment” boxes in Store Report settings do what they say. Ticking a section to arrive as an attachment had no effect for every section except Payroll — it quietly followed the “Send As Content” box instead. Each box now works on its own. The reports you already receive are unchanged until you tick one.
- The Sales Tax box in Store Report settings works too. It was reading the “Sales Tax By Line Item” setting, so turning Sales Tax on or off did nothing at all.
- The trace log opens again on employee points purchases. Opening the log for a sale where an employee spent their points could fail to open the details window at all, and where it did open, it credited the discount to the wrong employee. Both are fixed — though entries recorded before this update still show the old name.
- A gift card that was never sold now says so. Scanning a card that was printed but never rung up used to report “Unable to locate Gift Card,” which reads like TORO has never heard of the card. It now tells you the card has never been activated, so you know to sell it rather than hunt for a lost balance. Typing a very short card number by hand could also crash the swipe screen — it can’t any more.
- Stores using their own gift card stock can have it recognised — Nice Ash is now set up.
- The Online Store Test Tool has a Copy button on its results box, so a failing test can be sent to support in one click — and it now stops you before you save a website address with a slash in front of the domain.
- An update that can’t finish no longer reports itself as finished. If part of an update to your store’s database failed, TORO could announce a successful upgrade anyway and then ask to upgrade again on the next launch with nothing to explain why. It now says plainly what went wrong, and picks up where it stopped rather than starting over.
- The Drew Estate DDRP screens have been removed — Drew Estate has discontinued the program.
- Your paid modules no longer go missing after a restart. If TORO started up before it could reach the TORO servers, it could spend the rest of that session acting as though your store owned none of its modules — Reporting, SMS, Backup and the rest simply unavailable until the next restart, and on some registers an error instead. TORO now keeps trying until it has the real list.
- TORO’s own bookkeeping items no longer turn up when you search for a product. Typing something like “payment” in the item search box could offer up Payment Discount/Fee — the internal item TORO uses to record a card fee or cash discount — as though it were something you could sell. Ringing one up by hand would have quietly corrupted the day’s numbers. Those internal items are now kept out of item search as well as off the sale-screen buttons.
- Wholesale profit stops moving when you pull an old report again. Re-running a Store Report for a past day used to work its wholesale cost out from what your items cost today, so the profit and margin on that day drifted every time a cost went up. Wholesale now uses the cost recorded on the invoice itself, so the day reads the same whenever you pull it — and the Store Report and the wholesale invoice screen finally agree on what an invoice cost. (Retail cost still works out from today’s prices; that part is unchanged.)
- A second register now closes out against its own cash, not the whole store’s. If you have more than one till, closing the second one could show every register’s cash sales as the amount that drawer owed — a store taking $493 on the front register and $203 on the second would be asked to account for $696 at the second drawer. Each drawer now counts only the cash rung up on it. Your main register was never affected, and the ? button beside the figure no longer says “No cash drawer associated with this machine” on a register that plainly has one.
- The Selling Assistant stops suggesting cigars you don’t have. When it had no sales history for one of its nine slots it would fill that slot with any priced item, including ones sitting at zero or negative stock. It now only features something in stock, and leaves the slot empty if nothing qualifies.
- Emailing anything now tells you which address it’s coming from — the window where you pick who the email goes to says Sending From: and the address right at the top, so you see it before you send rather than in the message afterwards.
- TORO tells you when an email did not go out. Emailing a report or an export always finished with “Sent from…”, whether or not anything had actually been sent. If an email is refused now, TORO says so, names the addresses it couldn’t reach, and leaves the window open so you can try again.
- Payroll notes show again when you hover a yellow shift. On Do Payroll, a shift your employee left a note on turns yellow and the screen tells you to hover over it to read the note — and hovering had stopped showing anything. It works again. Yellow is also back to meaning what it says: shifts no longer turn yellow on the other hours screens, where there was never a note to read.
- Items with a missing tobacco value open again. If a wrapper, binder, filler or origin on an item pointed at an entry that had since been removed, opening that item could fail. TORO now skips the missing value and opens the item, and you can re-add it by hand.
- A tab you delete is kept, not destroyed. Deleting a tab now records who did it, when, and the reason they typed, and files the tab away rather than erasing it — it still disappears from your tab list exactly as before, and any gift cards sitting on it are released properly. If the tab can’t actually be removed it now stays on your screen and says so, instead of vanishing and reappearing the next time you look.
- Tabs show when they started and when they were last picked up — two new lines on the tab window, so a tab that’s been sitting open since Tuesday says so.
- Confirm boxes no longer start on Yes. On Void, Unvoid and Request Refund the highlighted button is now No, so pressing Enter to clear a box off your screen can’t void a card charge. The same change was made on the vendor, representative, brand and back-order removals.
- Updating TORO looks like the rest of TORO now. The full-width bar that took over the screen while a new version downloaded has been replaced by the small teal dial you see everywhere else, counting up the percentage with the megabytes downloaded underneath it. You’ll see it the first time you take an update after this one.
- Red, yellow and green mean the same thing everywhere now. TORO had grown three different sets of them, so a “good” green on one screen was a different green on another. There’s one set now, picked against both the light and dark themes — the reds in particular were bright enough to be hard to read, and are deeper and easier on the eye.
- “Send Welcome Message” isn’t cut off — on the representative editor that button showed only Send Welcome, with the rest chopped off the bottom.
- A trace log attached to a tab is kept a year past that tab’s last activity instead of six months flat, so a tab left open over a season no longer loses its own history while it’s still open. A trace you’ve flagged is never deleted, on any schedule.
