TORO v7.69.824.401

July 19, 2026

📋 Release Overview

The short version — a big rewards release (schedule your points, word your own texts), plus new money tools, a fresh consistent look, and a handful of choices that let you run TORO your way. Full details below.

🎁 A smarter rewards program

  • Points Rate Schedule — pay double points from 4 to 6, half points on a slow night, or a special rate for one weekend only. A top-bar banner tells everyone at the register what promo is running.
  • Word your own reward texts — write the message on your Welcome coupon and your birthday texts, with a live preview of the exact SMS your customer will get.

💰 New customer & money tools

  • Add money to a virtual gift card — credit a customer’s VGC with a reason, counted as $0 in sales.
  • Design how every item looks on the sale screen — a full WYSIWYG button editor: your wording, your picture, dragged and sized exactly how you want.
  • Track cutters, lighters & more — give a category its own detail fields, or build your own.

🎨 A fresh, consistent look

  • A cleaner palette — buttons stand out from the screen, one consistent teal everywhere, an easy-to-spot Save button. Nothing to turn on.
  • Display & Accessibility — fine-tune your own brightness with a live preview and one-tap high-contrast presets.
  • Rearrange Header, refined — snap-to-grid alignment, every tile visible while you arrange, and a protected spot for your logo.
  • Crop your receipt logo in TORO — frame it exactly right with a drag-to-crop window, no photo editor needed.

⚙️ Run it your way

  • Choose when the Purchase Order verification screen appears, line up custom label sizes by printing, decide how the sale list behaves, and turn expiring-card reminders on or off.

📥 Bring in your data, find your charges

  • TORO Portal Account — one web login for torocigarpos.com you can create or link right from a staff profile, with live username & password checklists.
  • Import Wholesale Accounts — bulk-create wholesale accounts from a spreadsheet, with a full preview and skip/update/create for names you already have.
  • A smarter Contact Import — a live count strip, a warning when the rows don’t add up, and opening balances you can load per account.
  • Credit Card Batch Analysis, refreshed — card last-4 and name up front, and one click narrows a missing charge to its likely twin.

📖 Detailed Updates in This Release…

🎁 Pay Different Points at Different Times

Double points at happy hour, a slow-night boost, or a one-weekend promo — your rewards program now runs on a schedule. Your rewards program can now pay different points at different times. Open a rewards program and click Points Rate Schedule… to set up rules like double points every day from 4 to 6, half points on a busy Friday night, or a special rate for a single weekend. Each rule picks its own days, its own hours, and — if you want — a start and end date, so a promo can run for just the dates you choose and then stop on its own. Pick a date range and a couple of weekdays and TORO shows you a calendar with exactly the days you selected highlighted, so “the 10th through the 30th, Wednesdays and Thursdays” reads as the six days it really is. A rule can even pay zero, which switches points off for that stretch. When two rules overlap, the customer always earns the better of the two, and TORO tells you when one rule is being completely covered by a richer one. A late-night rule works the way you’d say it out loud: “Friday 8 PM to 2 AM” means tick Friday, and a sale at 1 AM still counts as Friday night. And so nobody has to guess: a new top-bar banner shows “REWARDS PROMO — 2 Points / Dollar” while a promo is running, or “NEXT REWARDS PROMO” with the date and time of the next one — so anyone at the register can mention it before the customer even asks. If points are switched off, it reads “REWARDS PROGRAM NOTICE — Reward Points Off Until…” with the time they come back on. It hides itself when you have no promos scheduled, and you can drag it wherever you like with Rearrange Header. How to activate: Setup → Rewards Program → Points Rate Schedule…

💳 Add Money to a Customer’s Virtual Gift Card

Credit a customer’s gift card for a make-good or a promo — with a reason that sticks — without it touching your sales numbers. You can now add money to a customer’s virtual gift card right from their account. Open a customer, click VGC History, then Add $ to VGC. Enter the amount and the reason you’re adding it, and TORO creates the transaction for you — paid for with a Store Comp payment, so it counts as $0 in sales. The screen tells you that up front, and only managers can use it unless you grant access to others. Your reason shows up in the history so anyone can see why the credit was given. The Virtual Gift Card History screen got a fresh look to match — the same information rebuilt in the modern TORO style. Its Description column now shows the note that was written when a credit was added, so old hand-entered credits like “credit for overpayment” finally show their reason instead of a generic line. And the customer’s gift-card balance refreshes on the customer screen the moment you close the history. How to access: Customer → VGC History → Add $ to VGC.

🎨 Design How Every Item Looks on the Sale Screen

A full what-you-see-is-what-you-get editor for your item buttons — your wording, your picture, arranged exactly how you want, the same on every station. Open an item, click Set Up GUI Button, and a new full editor opens with a live preview of the button. Choose what the button says — the full item name, the short receipt name, or your own custom wording with line breaks wherever you want them — then add a picture and drag the picture and the text anywhere on the button, sizing each with a slider and picking any text color. What you arrange is exactly what shows when you ring people up, and it looks the same on every station. A Reset button puts a button back to plain at any time. (This is the item-button companion to the brand-button designer that shipped last release, so now both your brand tiles and your item tiles can look exactly how you want.) How to access: open an item → Set Up GUI Button.

✂️ Track the Details That Matter — Cutters, Lighters & Anything Else

Give a category its own set of detail fields — the ones we thought of, or the ones you did. Product types now have an Attribute Profile. Set one of your categories to Cutter or Lighter (Edit Product Type → Attribute Profile) and items in that category get their own details panel — a cutter shows Cut Style, Blade Material, Max Ring Gauge and a Double-Blade check; a lighter shows Fuel Type, Flame/Jet Count, Refillable and Built-in Punch. Want to track something we didn’t think of? Click Manage Attributes on the Product Types screen and add your own fields — a dropdown, a number, a yes/no, or free text — and they show up on every item of that type. Your cigar details are unchanged. How to access: Setup → Product Types → Edit Product Type → Attribute Profile (or Manage Attributes for your own fields).

📱 Word Your Own Reward Texts

Write the message on your Welcome coupon and your birthday texts — and see the exact SMS before it goes out. Welcome coupon. In Setup → Rewards Program, the Welcome Coupon box now has a Custom Coupon Message field with a live Example SMS preview that shows the exact text your customer will get — code, offer, dates, and your own words — along with how long it is, so you can see how many message segments it’ll send before you save. Birthday texts. The Birthday Rewards Program now has a Birthday Message (shown on all texts) box for a line that goes on every birthday message, and each spending tier can add its own message on top of that — so your biggest spenders can get different wording than everyone else. The same live Example SMS preview shows exactly what goes out: your all-texts message first, then the tier’s own message. Two more birthday touches: a tier’s minimum purchase is now optional — leave it blank to offer “$10 off your next purchase” with no strings attached, and the message drops the minimum wording instead of reading “off a $0.00 minimum.” And a per-tier Include the discount offer checkbox lets a tier send the offer together with your message, or send just your message on its own. How to activate: Setup → Rewards Program (Welcome Coupon) and Setup → Birthday Rewards Program.

🎨 A Cleaner, More Consistent Look

Buttons that stand out from the screen, one teal everywhere, and a Save button you can’t miss — nothing to turn on. The everyday colors were refreshed so buttons stand clearly in front of the screen: light mode is a soft gray background with white buttons, dark mode a deep charcoal with black buttons, and the teal accent is a touch deeper. That same teal now shows up consistently everywhere — buttons, dropdowns, table headers, panels, checkboxes, and the product-menu tiles — and the Save button flips a normal button’s colors so it’s easy to pick out. The dashboard is tidier too: the side menu blends into the page and the tiles match the buttons. There’s nothing to switch on — it’s just the new default.

👁️ Fine-Tune the Colors to Your Own Eyes

Nudge the brightness until it’s comfortable for you — now with a live preview and one-tap high-contrast presets. The Display & Accessibility screen (in your tools — search “hard to see” or “brightness”) now has Light and Dark tabs, each showing a live sample of real TORO buttons, a dropdown, a table, and a panel that update as you nudge the background, buttons, and green lighter or darker. There are one-tap High Contrast and Extra High presets, a plain-language score that tells you when things are easy to tell apart, and a Reset per mode. Your settings are yours alone, follow you from station to station, and load automatically when you ring up a sale. How to access: your tools → search “brightness” or “hard to see” → Display & Accessibility.

🧭 Rearrange Your Header, Refined

Snap-to-grid alignment, every tile visible while you arrange, and a protected spot for your logo. Rearrange Header (right-click the TORO logo) got a round of upgrades that make lining up your top bar effortless:
  • Gridlines and snapping. You now get a grid over the bar, plus three controls under the Lock Header button: turn the gridlines on or off, make them finer or coarser with a slider, and turn snapping on or off. With snapping on, each tile you drag lands neatly on the nearest line, so the clock, weather, date, and status tiles line up evenly instead of by eye — turn it off any time to place something exactly where you like.
  • Every tile you own — plus the ones you don’t. Tiles that only appear at certain moments, like Messages during a sale or the Points Boost banner, now show up while you’re arranging so you can give them a permanent home. Underneath, a new section lists tiles you can’t place — ones you’ve switched off in your settings and ones that aren’t part of your plan — and tapping any of them tells you what they do. Humidor Health even shows a picture of its tile as it would look on your bar, with buttons to learn more or set it up.
  • Your logo stays readable. Drag a tile toward the far left and it now stops at a marked line, so nothing can be dropped on top of your logo.
  • Tidier status tiles. The Messages tile is now the same width as the SMS tile, and CigarLink, TORO Insight, SMS, Messages, and Store Phone each lost a little height — so you can stack them three rows high and reclaim width across your top bar.
How to access: right-click the TORO logo → Rearrange Header.

📦 Choose When the Purchase Order Verification Screen Appears

Scan the boxes when you receive the truck, when you verify later, or not at all — your call. Purchase Order settings has a new Verification screen dropdown. Use the verification screen when you click Confirm Received (the new default, so you scan the boxes as you unpack the truck), when you click Mark Verified (the way it worked before), or never. The screen also words itself for whichever step you launched it from — “Finalize Receiving” when you’re receiving, “Finalize Verification” when you’re verifying — and the discrepancy notes it writes onto the Purchase Order say which step caught them. 🏷️ Line Up Custom Label Sizes by Printing, Not by Typing

Nudge, print a test, scan to confirm — the same alignment you already use for standard labels, now for your own sizes. In the Label Design Studio, creating or editing a custom label size no longer asks you to type a print offset. Instead there’s an ALIGNMENT button that opens the same Label Setup — Align & Test screen you already use for the standard small and medium labels: nudge the start point with the arrows, print a test label, and scan it to confirm it reads back. The test label prints with one of your real templates for that size, or with a simple calibration label showing the offsets if you haven’t designed one yet. 🛒 You Decide How the Sale List Behaves

Two small choices that let the checkout screen work the way your shop rings people up. Setup → Setup Transactions has a new Sale Item List section with two choices, and both start out the way TORO has always worked:
  • Highlight an item when it is added — leave it on and each item you add jumps to selected like before; turn it off and items just drop into the list without changing what’s highlighted, which some shops prefer so the screen stays still while they scan.
  • Tap items to select more than one — no Ctrl key needed — leave it on and you can tap several items to select them all with no keyboard; turn it off and it works the classic way, where a tap picks one item and you hold Ctrl to pick more.

💳 Turn Expiring-Card Reminders On or Off

Keep the heads-up about customer cards that are about to expire — or switch the pop-ups off. Setup → Credit Cards has a new Expiring Cards on File setting. Leave it on (the default) and TORO keeps warning you about customer cards that have expired or expire within 30 days; turn it off and those pop-ups stop. The Dashboard’s Expiring Cards on File tool still works either way. How to access: Setup → Credit Cards → Expiring Cards on File.

🖼️ Crop and Zoom Your Receipt Logo Right in TORO

Frame your logo exactly the way you want it — no photo editor, no pre-sizing. When you set your receipt logo, picking an image now opens a crop window with an adjustable box right on top of it. Drag the box to reposition it, or drag its corners and edges to resize — zoom in for a tight frame or out to keep more of the picture. TORO sizes and saves the result for you at the width your receipt needs, so there’s no need to resize or touch up the image in another program first. How to access: Set Up Receipts → Set Logo.

🔑 One TORO Portal Account for the Web

Create — or link — a single torocigarpos.com login right from a staff member’s profile, with or without Insight. Every staff member’s profile now has a TORO Portal Account button (it replaces “Set Up TORO Insight”), and it’s always available — any store can create a web login for torocigarpos.com whether or not you use TORO Insight. From it you can create a new account, link an existing one so a multi-store owner signs in everywhere with one login, or manage and reset the password. Creating an account now shows live requirements checklists as you type — one for the username (6–100 characters; letters, numbers, dots, hyphens and underscores) and one for the password (10+ characters with an upper- and lower-case letter, a number and a symbol, and not your username) — and asks you to type the password twice, so you know both are accepted before you submit. And setting up TORO Insight now walks you through creating your Portal account first — Insight simply turns on for that account, so there’s no separate “Insight login” to keep track of anymore. How to access: open a staff member’s account → TORO Portal Account.

📈 Import Your Wholesale Accounts From a Spreadsheet

Bulk-create wholesale accounts instead of typing them in one at a time. If you’re bringing wholesale customers over from another system, you can now import them all from a spreadsheet. Map your columns — account name, contact, phone and email, address, tobacco license and its expiration, tax-exempt number, opening balance owed, and notes — then preview every row with clear flags for what will and won’t import before you commit anything. When an account name already exists, you choose what happens: skip it, update it, or create it anyway (handy since two wholesale accounts can legitimately share a name). Opening balances written in accounting form like ($4,123.50) are read correctly as the amount owed. How to access: reachable three ways — the Wholesale module, the Wholesale Accounts screen, and Configuration → Import Tools.

👥 Import Contacts Got Smarter

See exactly what will import before you commit — and load an opening balance while you’re at it. Import Contacts now shows a live count strip along the bottom — Rows in File, Total Accounts, New, Updating, Virtual Gift Card total, and Initial Balance total — so you can see precisely what will happen before you press go. And it now warns you when the file’s row count doesn’t match the number of accounts that will actually import — whether that’s from duplicate phone numbers, unreadable rows, or missing names — so nothing gets dropped without you knowing. You can also load an Initial Balance onto each account as you import — a deposit or opening balance placed as an on-hold item (think a wedding deposit). Map the amount column and an optional notes column that names each one; amounts written as ($350.00) are read correctly. How to access: Configuration → Import Tools → Import Contacts.

💳 A Refreshed Credit Card Batch Analysis Tool

Card last-4 and name up front, right-click actions on every charge, and one click to spot a double-charge. The Credit Card Batch Analysis Tool has a refreshed modern look, and each batch now shows the card’s last 4 and the name on the card right up front. Right-click any charge for quick actions: view its details, open it in TORO, open it at PayaConnect, view its trace log, or copy its transaction key. Best of all, when a charge from your processor is missing in TORO, click it and the matched list instantly narrows to its likely twin — same card, same name, or a total within 30 minutes — making a double-charge easy to spot. A Clear Filter button brings everything back. And from Find & Fix Duplicate Charges you can now jump straight into the full Batch Analysis Tool for the same day and account with one button. How to access: Credit Card tools → Batch Analysis Tool.

🔧 Under the Hood

  • The + and − quantity buttons respond instantly. Tapping the plus or minus stepper on a sale line no longer pauses while TORO re-checks your discounts and records the change on each tap — that work now happens in the background, so the buttons keep up even when you’re tapping fast.
  • Scanning is ready the moment you tap a button. After you tap a button on the sale screen, the search box takes focus back automatically — so your very next barcode scan drops straight into the cart instead of going nowhere.
  • A silent humidor sensor now says so on your top bar. If a sensor hasn’t sent a reading in 24 hours, its tile turns black — black outline, black droplet — and reads “[OFFLINE]” next to the humidor’s name, with the date and time of the last reading it did send underneath. Before, the tile kept showing the last temperature and humidity it ever received with a green dot, so a sensor with a dead battery or an unplugged gateway looked perfectly healthy.
  • Linking an existing card charge now checks the amount. When you use “Find & Link Existing Transaction” to record a charge you already ran, TORO shows you the sale total, shows you the charge total once you click Locate, and only lets you link the two when they match. If they don’t, it tells you the exact difference to add or remove — for example, “This charge is $15.00. This sale is $18.25. Remove $3.25 from the sale.” Previously the amounts were never compared, so a charge could be linked to a sale for a different total and your batch wouldn’t balance at the end of the day.
  • Replaying a drawer close now updates the Difference as you step. When a manager steps through how an employee counted down the drawer, the “Total Moved” total and its “Difference” now change together as each bill count is entered. Before, Total Moved climbed but Difference stayed at $0.00, which could make a perfectly balanced count look wrong.
  • Reward notes no longer blame discounts for zero points. When a sale earned no points, the reward note used to always say “Rewards not given on discounted items” — even when nothing on the sale was discounted. It now only says that when a discount was actually the reason.
  • Reprocessing an old sale’s rewards warns you first. Recalculating points on an old sale uses today’s points-rate rules, not the rules that were in effect back then — TORO now tells you so before it changes anything.
  • The Item Importer now honors your Transaction Sku Retail column. If your file sets a price for the transaction sku when updating an existing item, that price is now saved and the sku is marked as manually priced — previously the preview showed the new price but the import left the item on automatic pricing. A Transaction Sku Manf Sku change on an existing item is saved as well, and updating the master sku’s retail no longer overwrites a price you set by hand on the transaction sku.
  • The outside-weather tile now comes through TORO’s own service. The temperature and conditions on your top bar are served directly by TORO instead of a third-party weather website, so the tile loads faster and keeps working even when that outside service is having a bad day. Nothing changes in how it looks or what you do — and your weather history keeps recording the same as always.
  • Barcode changes now record the employee who made them. When a barcode is linked to an item — from Price Check, the register, Item Lookup, and similar screens — TORO now asks for the employee’s login and records that person, plus which screen it came from, in the barcode history. Before, these could show up under a generic system user. On Price Check, the Linking Barcodes Mode and Show QOH checkboxes, and the Print Labels button, now ask for a login the first time you use them.
  • The Online Store button opens your store, not the signup screen. If you have the Integrated Online Store (the integration-only plan), clicking Online Store now takes you straight to your store dashboard instead of the “Learn More” signup page. Before, only the full build-out plan opened the dashboard.
  • Gift Card Import now reads dollar signs and quotes. A balance written as $25.00 or “$1,250.00” now imports as the right amount instead of failing. If a balance can’t be read, that row is flagged in the preview with the reason (and the bad value shown) rather than quietly importing the card at $0.00.
  • Product labels now use the brand’s short name. The medium and metadata labels print the brand’s short name — the same one on your receipts — instead of the full brand name, so long brand names fit cleanly on the label. And the Short Name box on the brand screen now stops at 18 characters, matching what actually fits, so a slightly-too-long short name saves instead of throwing an error.
  • The TORO SYNC shortcut is always in your TORO folder. If you run an online store, the sync tool’s shortcut now sits in your TORO install folder on every station, not just the one already set as the Sync Station. Setting up a new store’s sync no longer means hunting for a way to start it.
  • A report you requested is yours to run. If we built a custom Advanced Reporting Module report for your shop, you can now open it on your plan even if it’s normally a higher-tier report — before, it could show as locked behind an upgrade. Locked reports above your plan are tidier too: a single, clearly-labeled “Upgrade” button in the corner and a clean gear icon for settings.
  • Gift cards import for customers with an old phone number. When you import contacts, a Virtual Gift Card now loads for an existing customer even when their number on file is a legacy 7-digit number with no area code. Before, the card was silently skipped for those customers.
  • Opening a brand-new Purchase Order no longer errors out. Creating a fresh Purchase Order now opens the editor cleanly instead of throwing an error.
  • Credit card charge times show your store’s local time. Times coming back from the processor now display in your store’s local time. Before, if a station’s Windows time zone didn’t match the store’s location, processor times could appear off by a couple of hours.
